About the role
This entry-level position provides hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience with mentorship, training, and growth opportunities from day one. You will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to support engineering solutions and advice that drive positive outcomes for municipal and transportation projects, including water, stormwater, street, and public-works efforts. The role involves assisting with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and project coordination while collaborating across disciplines to meet project goals and client expectations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design.
- Perform basic calculations such as hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, or calculations to balance site earthwork.
- Assist in designing water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systems.
- Assist with grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans.
- Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
- Work as part of a project team to support consulting projects, including project planning and scheduling to meet deadlines.
- Assist with documenting design decisions and monitoring project design progress.
- Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions in collaboration with senior engineers.
- Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, interpret state and local design criteria, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software; ability to complete training quickly.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts for producing technical plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) License.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
- Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

A municipal-heavy civil team serving Colorado's Front Range from Greenwood Village and Breckenridge. The team provides on-call engineering, development and plan review, and public-works support for Colorado cities and districts, including water/wastewater, stormwater, GIS, street design, and traffic-signal work. Strong relationships with Front Range municipalities and metro districts. Recent projects include Town of Morrison On-Call Engineering, City of Golden Streets & Utilities, and Castle Pines Metro District Water & Tank.

Pay
State of Colorado Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $74,500.00 per year. The range represents base pay for this position in Greenwood Village, CO. Individual compensation is determined based on experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
