About the role
This position completes moderately difficult activities related to civil engineering review of public infrastructure and private development permits/plans. The role ensures development activities adhere to adopted engineering standards, design criteria, and municipal code.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, update and distribute as-constructed records drawing inventory.
- Create reports using SmartGov permitting system on status of DS Engineering related permits.
- Complete all aspects of review, approval and financial security requirements for Right-of-Way use/construction permits, Final Plat and Short Plat permits.
- Perform engineering and survey plan review and approval of Boundary Line Adjustment, Right-of-Way Vacations, Building Permits, Fill and Grade Permits and Final Plat processes.
- Interprets and applies applicable state, county and local codes, ordinances and regulations.
- Initiates actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations.
- Conducts review of various development applications including plats, permits, site plans.
- Closely collaborates with Public Works staff; including maintenance and operation crews.
- Operate computer equipment including plotters, scanners, troubleshoots hardware and software related challenges.
- Provide project management, review and approval of basic and complex right-of-way use/construction permits.
- Provide engineering inspections and surveying support.
- Resolve issues associated with engineering projects.
- Review project field survey data, property legal descriptions, title reports, and easement wording for City departments and development projects, for quality assurance.
- Attend pre-application meetings, as requested.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering or related field AND four (4) years of construction planning, design, and inspection related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
- Current Flagger Certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
