Responsibilities
- Plan, assign and evaluate subordinates’ work for preparation of progress reports.
- Represent Bus Operations in relations with State/City agencies, consultants, contractors and damage claimants.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of the fundamental/complex portions of the design plan for major projects such as construction, remodeling, operation, maintenance or repair of structures or installations.
- Monitor field survey and construction inspection to ensure compliance with technical codes and/or contract specifications.
- Perform design assessments/cost estimate for issuance of technical reports and modification requests.
- Inspect equipment and material for acceptance and process payments.
- Interpret architectural, electrical and mechanical layouts/design plans for establishment/preparation of engineering criteria, contract drawings and technical specifications.
- Participate in engineering investigations and generate reports as directed.
Requirements
- A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and four years of full-time experience in civil engineering.
- A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in civil engineering.
- To be eligible for Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage assigned projects effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment from start to finish with appropriate oversight.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with working knowledge of building systems and site requirements, including structural, MEP and geotechnical considerations.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in CAD Software and computer programs such as Bentley Micro Station and Microsoft Office.
