About the role

Huitt-Zollars, Inc has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager - Federal with at least 8-10 years of experience that is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Civil Engineer/Project Manager candidates are preferred to have experience in the management and design of a wide range of project types, but the primary focus is anticipated to be on Federal projects.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Civil Engineer and Project Manager in the development of design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates
  • Coverage of duties includes, but are not limited to, initial project research, plan production and management of plan production staff, plan processing and management of plan processing efforts, construction administration and project close-out efforts
  • Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects
  • Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules
  • Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting
  • Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings
  • Prepare of proposal/contract and of project work plans and schedule
  • Work directly with clients and directing staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
  • Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities
  • Coverage of duties includes, but are not limited to, coordinating client management and marketing efforts for future work

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Must be a licensed PE in Texas with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience
  • Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision
  • Must be able to work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
  • Able to train staff and review work for quality assurance
  • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems
  • Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil3D are all a plus
  • Solid organizational and detail-oriented skills
  • Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented
  • Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead
  • Develop relationships with clients that allows for ease in communications and problem-solving
  • Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
