Location: Seattle, Washington – Alaska Junction Neighborhood in West Seattle. Our office is a 3-minute walk from free parking, the C Line rapid-ride bus system, restaurants, bakeries, and shopping. Approximately 15 minutes from downtown and 10 minutes to Alki Beach.

Mayfly is a civil-engineering firm with an emphasis on integrated sustainable design. We specialize in projects sensitive to both social and natural environments, providing full civil-engineering services from early site analysis through construction documents and administration. Our portfolio includes stormwater retrofits, park-focused projects emphasizing equity and access, and sustainable approaches. Current projects:

  • ASUW Shell House (Home of the Boys in the Boat) on the Montlake Cut
  • WWU Welcome Center
  • Rainier Beach Skate Park
  • Westgate Elementary School
  • Magnuson Park Playground and Restroom
  • LID-based stormwater planning for Seattle Public Utilities
  • Sound Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility South

About You

We are looking for curious, collaborative, and independent engineers with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously. Open to full- or part-time, onsite or hybrid roles.

  • 1+ years of project-management experience (6+ years preferred)
  • Professional Engineering License in Washington State
  • Western Washington design experience
  • 4+ years of civil-design experience
  • Interest in sustainable design and community improvement
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Expertise in project design and document production
  • Proficiency with stormwater modeling using WWHM or MGS Flood
  • Proficiency with local stormwater manuals and preparing stormwater calculations/reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, collaborative attitude, and willingness to learn and mentor
