About the role
The municipal engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relations and attending client meetings (which can include handling and responding to public input).
Responsibilities
- Working with elected or appointed municipal officials and personnel to determine and meet the municipality’s needs
- Attend public meetings of elected or appointed officials as municipal engineer representative
- Conduct or supervise plan reviews for submitted Subdivisions and Land Developments
- Work with staff personnel to confirm that subdivisions/land developments are constructed consistent with municipal approvals
- Manage and/or design infrastructure projects, such as roadways, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, culvert replacements, water distribution, park and recreation facilities
- Manage and review bid specifications and provide construction management for municipal infrastructure projects
- Prepare cost estimates or review cost estimates prepared by staff
- Prepare project proposals, contracts, and reports
- Client and project management
- Recruiting/hiring/mentoring junior engineers
Requirements
- Civil Engineers with at least seven years’ experience (PA PE license strongly preferred) in the design and management of municipal projects (with land development experience a plus)
- Experience in building and maintaining client relations and involvement in business development
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D (preferred)
- Ability to attend evening meetings
- Valid driver’s license – for travel to client sites/meetings
- Ability to obtain PA Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances
