About the Role
As a Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or Electrical Engineer, you will lead cross-functional teams, including planning, marketing and sales, environmental, and constituent and customer account executives to execute strategic project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of the project on a daily basis (may include multiple projects) with regard to scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
- Maintain consistent communication with the project sponsor, resource managers, and other stakeholders on the progress of the project against the plan.
- Collaborate, coordinate, and work in conjunction with other organizations.
- Resolve resource allocation issues with business units and resource managers.
- Apply advanced engineering principles, concepts, standards, and methods to plan and manage engineering projects, including proposing and modifying plans, adjusting milestones, and overseeing contractor efforts to meet strategic goals.
- Apply Project Management Body of Knowledge Principles to electrical, civil, structural, telecommunication, or facilities projects, focusing on schedule management, cost management (budgeting and estimating), communication management, procurement management, risk management, and scope management.
Requirements
You must be a United States Citizen. This employer participates in the e-Verify program. Males must abide by Selective Service registration requirements. You will be required to report in person to the official duty location.
- Preliminary background check must be completed before employment begins. Current Federal employees or individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not need another one.
- Overnight travel: 4-10 days per month.
- After employment, this position may require periodic physical examinations if exposed to health hazards, at BPA expense.
Qualifications
Basic Requirement: Degree in Engineering. The program must:
- Lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or
- Include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics:
- statics, dynamics;
- strength of materials (stress-strain relationships);
- fluid mechanics, hydraulics;
- thermodynamics;
- electrical fields and circuits;
- nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and
- any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR Combination of Education and Experience:
- College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that provided:
- a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and
- a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:
- Professional Registration or Licensure: Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
- Written Test: Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration.
- Specified Academic Courses: Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including the courses specified in the basic requirements.
- Related Curriculum: Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology), provided the applicant has at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
Specialized Experience Requirements: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes:
- Applying advanced civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering principles, concepts, standards, and methods to plan and manage engineering projects.
- Proposing and modifying project plans, adjusting milestones, and providing administration and oversight of contractor efforts to meet an organization’s strategic goals.
- Applying Project Management Body of Knowledge Principles to projects involving electrical, civil, structural, telecommunication, or facilities, focusing on key knowledge areas such as schedule, cost, communication, procurement, risk, and scope management.
Education
Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be reviewed by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Failure to provide college transcripts may result in a rating of "Ineligible."
