Civil Engineer (Land Development)

About the role

The Civil Engineer (Land Development) role at our Customer is focused on the design of land development engineering projects. The position is not construction-focused.

Qualifications Of An Ideal Candidate

• A B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• EIT certification is preferred, but not required
• Experience in designing, preparing and processing land development applications required
• Experience in designing, preparing and processing land development applications in Northern Virginia jurisdictions is preferred, but not required
• The ability to make well-informed design decisions based on civil engineering concepts and locality requirements
• Contributes to the preparation of full sets of construction plans
• Ensures the quality of all work completed
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must

Key Responsibilities

• Create CAD drawings and details for site and subdivision plans
• Site Layout and utility design
• Horizontal and vertical design of roadways
• Generate hydrologic computations for SWM facilities
• Perform pavement design computations
• Perform site distance analysis
• Prepare site work quantity take-offs
• Coordinate with internal and external engineers, architects, etc.
