About the role

Stantec is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our team on a variety of land development projects. The ideal candidate will have two to three years of experience in the civil engineering field, performing tasks related to grading, drainage, wet utilities, street improvements, and hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, grade, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents.
  • Develop three-dimensional models of civil systems.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various civil phases.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis with oversight from senior staff.
  • Develop and manage the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule under the guidance and tutelage of senior staff members.
  • Affirmatively assist with the preparation and coordination of project specifications associated with construction documents.
  • Utilize techniques for the analysis of specialized civil elements under the guidance of others.
  • Help conduct quality assurance and quality control on their own projects.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge in the application of agency and industry applicable codes.
  • General understanding of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-In-Training Certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Local project resume and experience strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Experience with land development projects in the Portland market.
  • Knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software.

Pay

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Stantec is compliant with pay transparency laws and provides pay ranges for positions in locations where required.
