About This Position

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the wastewater collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix. The Water Services Department (WSD) is seeking one Civil Engineer III for the Water Engineering Division. The position will manage projects and programs in the new Wastewater Remotes Facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Managing studies, assessments, inspections, planning, design and construction for rehabilitation, replacement, and new Wastewater Remotes Facilities.
  • Development of project scope, cost estimates, procurement and administration of construction contracts.
  • Techical review of reports, design plans and construction documents.
  • Coordination of design, construction and inspection activities with Wastewater Remotes/Collection staff, external stakeholders, and other City Departments.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Proficient using Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of the following: Construction methods, materials and practices used in municipal Right-of-Way construction projects. Engineering principles applicable to municipal water infrastructure projects. Construction schedule evaluation.

PAY AND BENEFITS

SALARY
Effective July 6th, the following pay rates will be in effect.
Pay Range: $115,460.80 - $140,337.60 annually.
Hiring Range: $115,460.80 - $133,660.80 annually.
Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase. Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease. Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade. When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in the practice of civil engineering or architecture.
  • One year of experience supervising professional and technical staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering degree.
  • Must be registered in the State of Arizona as a Professional Engineer by the end of the probationary period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Arizona Professional Engineer registration.
  • Experience with/in the following:
  • Water/Wastewater infrastructure design and project management.
  • Wastewater Lift Station infrastructure design and project management.
  • Wastewater Odor Control Management.
  • Techical review of design plans and specifications.
  • Developing project scopes and cost estimates.
  • Regulation and permitting coordination (ATC, AOC, ADOT, MCDOT, Encroachment, ROW, etc.).
