EngineeringFull-time
Responsibilities
- Apply professional engineering knowledge and experience to a full range of hydraulic and hydrologic investigative, study, and reporting assignments as part of the total engineering process.
- Analyze hydraulic and hydrologic problems in complex flood‑protection planning, including determination of design water‑surface profiles and interior flood‑control facilities.
- Obtain first‑hand information on conditions influencing the type and extent of hydrologic and hydraulic investigation necessary for flood‑control projects.
- Analyze existing and anticipated conditions related to design or modification of hydraulic features of large projects (e.g., spillways, outlet works, stilling basins).
- Perform hydrology studies and investigations, including discharge‑frequency analysis for gaged and ungaged streams; application of unit‑hydrograph theory and rainfall‑runoff relations.
- Determine design storm hydrographs and related hydrologic design criteria.
- Conduct hydraulic design, channel, bank‑stabilization, and erosion studies for complex levee and channel projects.
- Conduct sediment‑transport studies to evaluate and minimize adverse impacts on levee, channel, and navigation projects.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies for complex environmental‑enhancement projects and evaluate existing conditions at proposed sites.
- Perform hydraulic analysis and design of navigation structures such as wing dams, submerged weirs, channel closures, and lock and dam features.
- Compose narrative reports using concise language appropriate for target audiences.
- Provide technical guidance to, and review for technical adequacy, the work of lower‑graded personnel, peers, and consulting engineers on hydrologic and hydraulic studies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
- Relocation/PCS may be authorized.
- Recruitment/Relocation/Retention incentive may be authorized.
