Civil Engineer, Fleet Remediation Engineering - Civil, Structural & Architectural, Data Center Engineering

About the role

We're seeking a Civil Engineer who will transform data center infrastructure through strategic design and robust solutions. In this role, you'll collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop resilient, sustainable, and innovative engineering designs that push the boundaries of technological infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop resilient, sustainable, and innovative engineering designs for data center infrastructure.
• Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
• Lead Civil Engineering initiatives with strategic vision while demonstrating competence in Structural Engineering project execution.
• Work on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously without compromising safety and availability constraints.
• Visit project locations in the AMER region and provide subject matter guidance to partnering teams.
• Create, review and release data center Civil improvements and designs.
• Drive refinements to the Basis of Design, product development, sustainability, and template specifications for Civil systems to support continuous improvement of future data center designs.
• Manage external Civil design consultants through the audit, design and implementation of a variety of projects while coordinating with internal engineering, construction and other stakeholder teams.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving quality, schedule, consistency or reducing costs to in-flight and future data center construction and improvement projects.
• Participate in external forums/consortiums to understand current trends and developments within the industry.
• Communicate the technical decisions we make to Senior Engineers and drive continuous improvements with our designs.

Requirements

• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or Structural Engineering with Civil expertise/experience).
• 5+ years professional experience in commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial new design and remediation with working knowledge of civil/structural engineering conventional practices.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer License.
• Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience in data center or mission critical facility design with basic multidisciplinary knowledge of mission critical systems, design process, pre-construction requirements and the construction process.
• Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
