About the role

The ideal candidate will have designed 765-kV tower families and have several years of experience designing transmission lines. This role involves advising and consulting on structural engineering, including seismic engineering, rehabilitation of existing facilities, and the mechanical and electrical aspects of transmission line or substation engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, and coordinates engineering standards by serving as a staff technical expert and providing authoritative advice on transmission systems engineering using advanced principles and practices.
  • Directs the technical requirements of large or very complex and important customer or reliability projects.
  • Performs design or storm damage related inspections and develops temporary facilities using available materials.
  • Supervises and directs other engineers or technicians providing engineering or design basis and requirements.
  • Reviews and analyzes results providing feedback to employees and input to the Department Manager on appraisals.
  • Serves as a representative of the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and plan and coordinate work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Membership in professional/technical societies is essential.
  • Ability to work in the field and climb structures.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and proficiency in technical areas related to the transmission system achieved at Engineer-II and other areas.
  • Ability to plan, budget, organize, and direct work.
  • Effective communication skills showing the ability to give clear direction to others, negotiate, and handle difficult and adverse situations.

Skills

  • Advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
  • Knowledge and expertise resulting from progressive experience and substantial portion of work being higher level than described for Senior Level.
