About the Role
Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of civil engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Performs work which involves conventional civil engineering practice but may include complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Requires broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and good knowledge of related practices.
As a fully competent civil engineer, independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Provides procurement, field engineering including walk-downs, modification/maintenance, and testing support.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct civil engineering work for projects of moderate scope.
- Address complex design requirements, material suitability, and coordination challenges.
- Evaluate, select, and adapt standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Develop new solutions to engineering problems.
- Support procurement, field engineering (including walk-downs), modification, maintenance, and testing.
- Supervise or coordinate work of multidiscipline engineers, drafters, technicians, and others.
- Assume "on-call" rotational assignments, including 24/7 availability.
- Work rotating shifts and overtime during peak periods as required.
- Travel to plant locations and accept temporary field assignments as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited curriculum, plus continuing education.
- At least 2 years of related experience and 1 year of nuclear power plant experience (or equivalent post-graduate education).
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3/S-4 medical qualifications.
- Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and travel as required.
Licensed Professional Engineer and membership in professional/technical societies are desirable.
