Civil Engineer Design Lead

About the role

Arcadis is looking for a Civil Engineer to support our Mid-Atlantic Region. This role can be based out of any of the following Arcadis offices: Richmond, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Hanover, MD, Washington DC, Philadelphia, PA, or Wilmington, DE.

The candidate in this role will perform site civil design and project management tasks for a variety of projects in the region. Tasks may include site layouts, grading, hydraulic modeling, utility design, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control design, and task/project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead site civil design and permitting efforts for municipal and industrial facilities, including water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and utility transmission and distribution projects.
• Manage the planning, design, and permitting process to ensure all work complies with contracts, drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and Arcadis quality and safety standards.
• Communicate closely with clients, establish clear goals and objectives for project teams, and coordinate resources and schedules to successfully deliver projects on time, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.
• Provide technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer, or technical advisor.
• Navigate local and state permitting requirements to obtain regulatory approval for projects.
• Supervise and support the work of others while mentoring junior level engineers and technical staff.
• Work directly with clients to determine needs, deliver solutions, and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients.

Some local travel may be required.

Requirements

• 8 years or more of experience in site civil projects.
• BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE License.

Skills

• Experience in land development projects and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
• Client-facing experience and ability to develop contacts and relationships.
• Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several assignments.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $145,000/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
