About the role
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a Civil Engineer GS-0810-12 to work at 87th Civil Engineer Squadron, JB McGuire, NJ. This position requires a strong background in civil engineering, particularly in pavements and structures, and involves analyzing and managing infrastructure assets.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes built and natural infrastructure asset data to develop innovative investment strategies.
- Ensures CE investment plans minimize risk to the mission and maximize return on investment.
- Works closely with CEO shops to provide analyses of infrastructure asset data.
- Applies an asset life-cycle approach to measure the performance of assets.
- Plans, programs, budgets, and executes required projects in support of assigned programs.
- Produces government estimates, program projects, and competes for funding in Air Force corporate processes.
- Manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities, including utility systems.
- Maintains surveillance over in-house labor or construction contractors.
- Coordinates projects with other engineers, architects, planners, and contractors.
- Collects data and evaluates factors affecting infrastructure applications.
Requirements
- Must have an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- Must meet DAWIA requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Must perform O&M engineering involving design and construction of infrastructure facilities, including utility systems.
- Must use cost estimating tools to produce government estimates, program projects, and compete for funding.
- Must manage projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities.
- Must coordinate projects with other engineers, architects, planners, and contractors.
- Must collect data and evaluate factors affecting infrastructure applications.
Qualifications
- Up to 24 months to meet the applicable mandatory experience, education, and training requirements.
- Must be of legal working age.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience with civil engineering, particularly in pavements and structures.
- Knowledge of asset life-cycle approaches.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in cost estimating tools.
Benefits
- Salary range: $105,481 - $137,128.
