Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description This Civil Engineer role focuses on designing and supervising a variety of infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater systems, land and site development, stormwater management, and transportation projects. You will estimate project costs and resource needs, lead and mentor technical staff, and contribute to business development efforts. The position offers significant autonomy, a wide degree of creativity, and the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative project team within an employee-owned organization. Responsibilities Design and supervise construction projects such as water and wastewater systems, land development, stormwater infrastructure, site development, and transportation facilities based on the needs of the service center.Estimate project costs, including personnel, materials, and other resources, to support accurate budgeting and planning.Conduct technical studies and analyses and prepare clear, well-structured written reports for clients.Take the lead on assigned projects and provide oversight and guidance to other engineers, E.I.T.s, drafters, and field personnel.Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams on larger scale projects to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.Apply a high degree of creativity and professional judgment to develop effective, constructible, and cost-efficient design solutions.Assist in business development efforts by supporting client relationship-building and identifying new project opportunities.Assist in preparing statements of qualifications and proposals for potential clients, including technical content and project approach descriptions.Communicate clearly with internal teams and clients to ensure alignment on project goals, deliverables, and timelines.Support the development and growth of team members by sharing knowledge, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Essential Skills Proven experience as a civil engineer with involvement in the design and supervision of infrastructure projects.Hands-on experience with water and sewer projects, including collection and distribution systems.Strong background in land development and site development, including grading and drainage design.Experience in stormwater design and management, including drainage systems and related civil design components.Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design, grading, and drafting of site and infrastructure projects.Knowledge of transportation and municipal engineering practices and standards.Demonstrated project management abilities, including coordinating tasks, managing schedules, and overseeing technical deliverables.Strong civil engineering fundamentals and understanding of applicable codes, standards, and best practices.Ability to lead projects and supervise engineers, E.I.T.s, drafters, and field personnel effectively.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present clear written reports and technical documents.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on larger projects.Capability to exercise a wide degree of creativity and latitude in developing design solutions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) credential or the ability and intent to obtain professional licensure.Experience in municipal engineering projects and working with public-sector clients.Experience contributing to business development activities, including client interaction and opportunity identification.Experience assisting with the preparation of statements of qualifications and technical proposals.Demonstrated ability as a good communicator and developer of talent, with a focus on mentoring and team development.Interest in working in an employee-owned environment where staff share in the success of the organization. Work Environment This position is based in a Mesa office environment, where you will collaborate closely with engineers, E.I.T.s, drafters, and field personnel. Work primarily involves office-based design and coordination using tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil engineering software, with potential visits to project sites as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
