Civil Designer - Transportation
Primary Duties
- Develop technical design elements, plans, specifications and cost estimates for a wide variety of municipal transportation engineering projects that include the following elements: geometric design, horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection layout, sight distance determination, roadway drainage, and right of way plans.
- Produce construction documents that include typical roadway sections, plan and profile drawings, removal plans, and detail sheets.
- Provide technical support to fellow team members’ preparation of erosion control plans, drainage plans and profiles, utility plans, traffic signal plans, pavement marking plans, and signing plans.
Education And Experience Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- 3+ years of experience working as a transportation project designer
- Ability to apply design standards from a variety of different agencies.
- Ability to learn and apply agency and in-house CAD
- Ability to efficiently create accurate roadway plans using Civil 3D
- Thorough understanding of roads and streets, drainage and utility design
- Good written and oral communication abilities and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Must be highly organized, self-motivated and meticulous with details
Local Arizona experience is desirable but not required
