About the Role
As a Civil Designer in our Mine Waste Solutions division, you will plan, develop, and quality-check civil design work, produce 3D models, drawings, and documentation, and perform quantity take-offs for estimating across all project phases—from Study Phase Engineering to Detailed Engineering, Construction, and Operational Support.
- Develop 3D civil/earthwork models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D for mine waste solutions projects, including tailings storage facilities (TSFs), waste rock dumps (WRDs), heap leach facilities (HLFs), and related ancillary infrastructure such as ponds, channels, and roads.
- Produce high-quality engineering deliverables, including plans, profiles, sections, quantity take-offs, and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support civil design activities throughout all project phases, from site investigations through construction and operational support.
- Interface with other disciplines (geotechnical, H&H, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical) to ensure integration of requirements in civil drawings.
- Work under the direction of senior engineers and project leads to develop practical, constructible, and cost-effective civil designs while maintaining drafting and modeling standards.
- Coordinate with clients, municipalities, agencies, and sub-consultants to expedite design completion.
- Develop and review design work within a small civil/structural design team for medium-sized projects.
- Assist with the preparation of engineering effort estimates, work plans, schedules, and resource forecasts to support project planning and execution.
- Perform quality control reviews of civil design models, engineering drawings, and drafting deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
