About the Role The Civil Department Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, growth, and performance of the Denver civil engineering team. This individual will oversee operations, staff development, project delivery, financial performance, and business development efforts while helping shape the long-term strategy of the practice. Responsibilities Provide leadership and strategic direction for the civil engineering departmentManage department operations, staffing levels, utilization, and financial performanceLead business development efforts and strengthen relationships with key clients, developers, municipalities, and public agenciesDrive growth initiatives and identify new market opportunities throughout ColoradoMentor and develop project managers, engineers, and technical staffOversee project delivery to ensure quality, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction goals are achievedCollaborate with regional and corporate leadership on strategic planning initiativesSupport recruiting efforts and workforce planning to build a high-performing teamMaintain visibility within the industry through professional organizations, networking, and community involvement Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) license required10+ years of progressive civil engineering consulting experienceDemonstrated experience leading teams, departments, or business unitsStrong track record of client development and business growthExperience managing project portfolios, budgets, and staff performanceBackground in land development, municipal infrastructure, transportation, or public works projectsStrong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills Required Skills Department and team leadershipBusiness development and client relationship managementFinancial and operational managementProject delivery oversightStaff mentoring and professional developmentStrategic planning and growth leadership Preferred Skills Existing relationships within the Colorado engineering and development marketExperience leading multidisciplinary engineering teamsSeller-doer background with proven revenue generation successExperience growing and scaling engineering operations Pay Range and Compensation Package $140,000 - $230,000 total compensation, depending on experience and qualifications.
