Civil Associate II, Transportation/Public Works
About the role
Michael Baker International's Public Works/Transportation Team in Ontario, CA is seeking a motivated and career-driven Civil Associate II to join our growing practice. Our team partners with municipalities and county agencies throughout Southern California, delivering innovative solutions in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, active transportation, complete streets, and a wide range of public works projects that enhance communities and improve mobility.
Responsibilities
- Partner with a team of engineers to deliver transportation engineering, public works, and site development projects for municipal and county clients.
- Contribute to the planning and design of roadway improvements, ADA accessibility enhancements, drainage systems, water quality features, and other infrastructure projects.
- Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, including engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and bid documents.
- Support geometric roadway design, Civil 3D modeling, and other engineering analyses throughout project development.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Participate in client meetings and project discussions, helping to coordinate solutions and communicate project progress.
- Provide technical support to municipal agency clients and, at times, serve as an extension of agency staff.
- Conduct occasional field visits to gather information, observe site conditions, and support project development.
- Build your technical expertise through mentorship, professional development opportunities, training programs, industry seminars, and professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of project and team objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with coursework or experience related to Public Works and/or Transportation Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
- EIT certification required.
- CA PE License in progress and ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office; experience with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and Microsoft is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn, grow, and apply engineering principles to develop innovative and practical design solutions.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $85,000–$110,000, dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
