Civil Engineer II, Traffic/Transportation
About the role
You’ll be hands-on with a variety of public works and transportation projects throughout Southern California, including roadway and intersection improvements, ADA and accessibility upgrades, active transportation (bike and pedestrian), signing & striping, traffic signals, street lighting, and other local agency improvement projects. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy technical design work, collaboration, and growing into greater responsibility.
Please note this is NOT a remote role and will require in-office time up to 3 days per week in Carlsbad, CA.
Responsibilities
- Prepare preliminary and final engineering plans using AutoCAD (Civil 3D exposure a plus)
- Develop plan and specification packages from design criteria, sketches, and detailed drawings
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and design technicians to support coordinated designs
- Apply engineering standards, technical manuals, and best practices to meet client expectations
- Review shop drawings for accuracy and compliance
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and proposals
- Gain exposure to task management responsibilities on select projects
- Continue building your skills through training, mentorship, and professional development
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design technicians to deliver high-quality work
- Support project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and proposals
- Contribute to marketing initiatives and business development efforts
- Serve as a task manager on select projects, owning deliverables from start to finish
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license – required
- 5–10 years of experience preparing engineering drawings and designs
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience strongly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- A collaborative mindset and interest in working on a variety of public-sector projects
Pay
The approximate compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 per year. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
