Civil - Associate Engineering Technician - Water

This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Government & Communities Market Sector, supporting Water & Industrial Water projects and building critical infrastructure for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Civil professionals contribute to site development efforts, including grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities.
Responsibilities
- Supports engineering teams under general supervision
- Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
- Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
- Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
- Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures
- Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives
- Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures
- Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
- Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
- Coverage deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences
- Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers
- Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes
Requirements
Basic Civil3d experience is required.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to support continuous improvement and change management initiatives
- Ability to use digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
