Civic Product Analyst — AllCiv
About the role
Legis1 is a congressional intelligence platform that goes beyond tracking legislation, revealing who is driving it. Our platform combines 45+ years of congressional and lobbying data, connecting bills, lawmakers, staff, lobbyists, and funders into a single networked intelligence system. Spun out of the nonpartisan Sunwater Institute in 2025, Legis1 is built for professionals who need to understand how policy and influence actually move through Washington.
POSITION
Legis1 is seeking a Civic Product Analyst to support the launch and growth of AllCiv, our civic engagement, political data, and citizen-facing media platform launching Q3 2026. This is an early-career role suited for someone recently out of college with 1-2 years of work experience or internships, looking to build hands-on skills at the intersection of civic technology, political data, and AI-assisted product development. This is not a typical analyst role. It sits squarely at the intersection of political knowledge, technology, and hands-on building.

- Coincide with the data team to ensure accuracy and relevance of civic and legislative data on the platform
- Analyze data to understand how it reflects real-world legislative and civic activity
- Apply a strong eye for design to ensure pages and features are clean, intuitive, and user-friendly
- Support execution-heavy work across the product build process, prioritizing speed and output
- Aid in monitoring product usage and user feedback post-launch to inform iteration
- Stay current on trends in civic technology, open government data, and political engagement
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science, public policy)
- 1-2 years of experience through full-time work or internships relevant to civics or politics
- Experience working on political campaigns, congressional offices, legislative affairs, civic advocacy, or public policy is a plus
- Comfortable using LLMs like Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini to design and build prototypes
- Experience 'vibe coding' with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or comparable AI coding frameworks is ideal
- Good eye for design; able to recognize clean, intuitive, user-friendly interfaces
- An understanding of UI/UX principles is helpful but not required
- Experience developing personal apps or tools is a plus
- Comfortable analyzing data and understanding how it reflects real-world trends in the field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex data and policy concepts for broad audiences
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment
