Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Hub School vision for rigorous, community-connected instruction in partnership with leadership and educators across the Hub School ecosystem.
  • Contribute to the infrastructure supporting community school transformation through the convening of community leaders, development of strategic partnerships, and presentation of actionable data.
  • Support school-based Coordinators in strengthening partnership systems and cultivating strategic partnerships aligned with the six key practices of Community Schools.
  • Develop and advance education advocacy initiatives in partnership with students, families, and community leaders.
  • Facilitate large- and small-scale community engagement events and training.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, school-based Coordinators, school leadership, educators, the BTU, BPS central office, partners, and the broader BPS community to bring coherence and resources to support the growth and continuous improvement of the Hub School strategy.
  • Represent the Hub Schools strategy in public forums and advocacy activities as needed.

Capacity Building

  • Support school-based Coordinators in understanding effective community schools implementation practices and monitoring progress toward Quality School Plan goals, especially related to instructional priorities.
  • Develop and facilitate professional learning related to community-connected and project-based learning aligned with the Hub Schools strategy for principals, teachers, student and family support staff, and other union members.
  • Build the leadership and organizing capacity of students and families to shape, lead, and sustain the Hub Schools strategy through shared ownership and collective action.
  • Provide cross-departmental training and share best practices with staff.
  • Identify and support the development of grant opportunities that advance the work.
  • Aid the Executive Director in reviewing relevant Hub Schools budgets, grants, and stipends.

Data, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and monitor implementation data to identify successes, develop new strategies, and support continuous improvement for the Hub School priorities.
  • Collect, analyze, and monitor trends in student, educator, and school-level data to make strategic, data-informed recommendations.
  • Promote data transparency by presenting key findings and fostering shared responsibility for both successes and areas needing improvement.
  • Support evaluation of the Boston Community Hub Schools strategy through timely reporting and coordination of data collection efforts.
  • Support collective efforts to establish and reinforce initiative goals, outcomes, and performance metrics.
  • Share and document lessons learned and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
  • High degree of cultural awareness and demonstrated competency in cross-cultural practice with children and families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Experience in collaboration, meeting facilitation, problem-solving, and team building.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while functioning effectively as both a team player and self-starter.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and analytical skills.
