ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in small group and individual pupil instruction.
- Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Assist teacher with instructional activities.
- Escort students from room to room.
- Toileting students is sometimes required.
- Involves work with both special education and regular students.
- Aid in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Supervise students during recess and lunch.
- Assist students with classroom assignments.
- Copy materials for instructional purposes.
- Aid teaching staff in filing material and preparing paperwork.
- Alert teachers to problems observed.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
- Two years of college credit OR hold an associate's (or higher) degree.
- Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment assessing content knowledge in mathematics, reading, and writing, and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics (Parapro Assessment).
