Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience working with students
• Fluent in Spanish
• Knowledge of LAS Links assessments
• Knowledge of Connecticut English Learners Proficiency Standards
• Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment
• Ability to develop teaching strategies for English learners
• Ability to implement instruction appropriate for learning levels
• Ability to organize and request teaching materials appropriate for English learners
• Experience administering LAS Placement testing
• Experience maintaining accurate attendance records
• Experience working with K-12 students
• Experience running small group sessions
• Knowledge of community resources

Responsibilities

• Identify English proficiency level of students
• Determine appropriate support for students
• Attend orientation to understand EL Dept. procedures
• Create and implement instructional programs for each assigned student
• Meet with small groups of students for instruction
• Collaborate with parents/guardians, counselors, and classroom teachers to establish instructional programs
• Complete and file written progress reports and annual assessments
• Maintain and file required reports and records as required
• Attend Wednesday staff meetings for updates on procedures, department initiatives, and professional development
