CIS Tutor

This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies at the T-205 Technology Tutorial Center. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur. Part-time positions are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Applicants remain active for 12 months from the application date.

About the role

This position assists students in developing digital literacy skills associated with basic computer and internet use, including programming, networking, and study habits.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in analyzing assignments and understanding class materials.
• Assist students in the development of basic computer literacy skills.
• Assist students in the development of basic, structured, programming skills.
• Assist students in the development of basic networking skills.
• Assist students in clarifying critical thinking and development of communication skills.
• Assist students in the development of effective study habits and skills.
• Assist students working in an online format.
• Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Requirements

• Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.
• High School Graduation, Equivalent, or Current Running Start Student.
• Basic Computer Competency.

Desired Qualifications

• College teaching or previous tutoring experience.
• 3.5 or better in OC CIS networking or programming coursework (or equivalent from another institution).

Pay

$20.49 - $27.28 hourly.

Schedule

Up to 18 hours per week.

Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement.

Conditions of Employment

• Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will be considered in determining suitability and competence.
• Completion of the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327.
• The employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus.
• Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
