CIS - Para I Building Aide - due to internal transfer

Employment status: Classified, 185 days

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree preferred
• Demonstrated ability to apply positive behavior interventions, and model implementation of the interventions to staff
• Ability to regulate self control during stressful situations
• Willing and able to participate in in-service training
• Demonstrated ability in working with students in formal and informal situations and show evidence of successful work experience
• Eligible to obtain a State Paraprofessional Aide License

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in achieving teaching social emotional skills objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the social emotional skill levels of the class as a whole, under the direction of the behavior management specialist, classroom teacher, and the supervision of the building principal
• Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of self-regulation
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing positive behavior supports based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
• Alert the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student
• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers
• Participate in in-service training programs as assigned
• Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the teacher, principal, or designee
• Administer medications to students consistent with District policies and student IEPs
• Assist students with personal health needs such as feeding, walking, etc.
• Accompany student to inclusion classes, as needed
• Assist in classroom documentation
• Participate in daily meetings with students, behavior specialist, teacher, or principal to review student data and response to behavioral interventions
