Circulatory Support Technician

Position Overview

Ensures an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment for perfusion and blood salvage devices in the operating room environment. Performs autologous blood salvage for both pediatric and adult patients under the direction of the surgeon, anesthesiologist and/or perfusionist. Assembles zero balance and calibration pressure monitoring transducers used for physiologic monitoring of patients. Maintains basic anesthesia and other medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and equipment for perfusion and blood salvage devices.
• Perform autologous blood salvage for pediatric and adult patients under medical direction.
• Assemble zero balance and calibration pressure monitoring transducers for physiologic monitoring.
• Maintain basic anesthesia and other medical equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education (GED) or equivalent education/experience, or college equivalent of two years with emphasis in the sciences, biology, and/or mathematics.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.

Skills & Knowledge

• Skilled in the use of hardware and disposable devices used by perfusionists during cardiovascular perfusion.
• Proficiency in English language with written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to maintain inventory levels to ensure availability.
• Basic math skills demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to function independently.
• Ability to manage multiple demands in a rapidly changing and challenging environment.
• Competence in taking appropriate actions in emergent situations.
• Effective troubleshooting skills for equipment problems.

Schedule

• Per Diem/Casual (variable schedule).
• Shift hours: 8.
• Days of the week: Variable, including rotating weekends as needed.

Pay

Pay range is $28.75 to $40.24 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on geographic location, candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
