About the role

Responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of cardiac catheterization equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the operation and maintenance, as specified by the manufacturer, of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Setup, adjust, and operate both diagnostic and interventional equipment used in the Kent Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
  • Calibrate equipment routinely and troubleshoot minor problems as needed; report issues to the Lead Cardiovascular Technician.
  • Monitor and record service visits.
  • Adjust cameras as necessary; clean and lubricate them routinely; store CDs.
  • Receive and position patients.
  • Monitor hemodynamics including blood pressure and EKG during procedures and notify physician of any changes.
  • Respond to emergencies during catheterization procedures.
  • Maintain BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Maintain the area and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional manner.
  • Maintain and order supplies as necessary to perform job functions.
  • Under the direction of a qualified physician and in the presence of a Registered Nurse, pull femoral sheaths after completion of the competency checklist.
  • Assist with the transport of patients as needed.
  • Assist the physician during procedures as needed, including scrubbing in on procedures.
  • Participate with the Lead Cardiovascular Technologist in inventory management and acquisition of supplies.
  • Demonstrate surgical asepsis.
  • Participate in on-call assignments for emergencies.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree in applied sciences or a minimum of one year of job-related experience or equivalent is required.
  • Experience working with biomedical and diagnostic equipment.
