CIER-2026-6H - Program Specialist (Land Surveyor) (Hourly)

Program/Location: Department of Environmental Protection, Community Investment & Economic Revitalization, Green Acres – 401 East State Street, Trenton, NJ 08625

Work Week: Up to 35 hours per week (Up to 944 hours max per fiscal year)

Salary: $35 - $50 per hour

About the Role

Under the direction of a supervisor in a local department or agency, the appointee will serve as a trainee and productive worker, receiving on-the-job training in analytic practices and procedures. The role involves completing assignments to gain practical analyst experience.

Specific to this position, the appointee will:

• Review land surveys submitted by local governments, nonprofit organizations, and state-hired surveyors for pending land acquisition transactions to ensure compliance with Green Acres Scope of Survey Services and state survey standards.
• Prepare project-specific survey scope of work for land proposed for acquisition.
• Work with GIS staff to map open space and collaborate with DEP programs to identify and resolve boundaries and encroachments on parkland.

Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and reviewing title reports is a plus. The ideal candidate is a team player who wants to work with great people and play a key role in advancing the Green Acres mission of preserving land in perpetuity.

Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education (30 semester hour credits equal one year of relevant experience):

• Six years of professional experience in planning, monitoring, coordinating, implementing, modifying, and/or evaluating agency programs and services.
• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
• Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline appropriate to the position and one year of the above-mentioned professional experience.

Professional experience refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires specialized knowledge of the profession’s principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one’s own judgment and make accurate, informed decisions.

Interested individuals must hold current active licensure as a New Jersey Land Surveyor.

License

A driver’s license valid in New Jersey is required only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
