About the role
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Construction and Field Survey Technician to join their team in Lander, Wyoming. This full-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to the planning, construction, and maintenance of safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation systems across the state.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to support project design and development
- Perform inspections on active construction projects to ensure quality and compliance
- Carry out material testing to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards
- Accurately collect, analyze, and document field data
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to support project delivery
- Promote and maintain WYDOT’s commitment to safety and operational excellence
Requirements
- Must have the ability to obtain a Valid Driver's License
- Must have the ability to obtain QC/QA Certification in Soils & Aggregate, Asphalt, and Concrete
- Must have the ability to obtain Asphalt Concrete, Soil & Aggregate Certification
- Must have the ability to obtain the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Certification
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Construction and Field Surveying)
- Knowledge: Knowledge of materials testing, surveying methods, and equipment operation; construction inspection; documentation of project records; communication with supervisors and contractors; working towards a leadership role; working outdoors and a variety of weather conditions; material testing and the ability to perform complicated computer calculations; survey methods and the ability to apply; computers and calculators; surveying; contract time, administration, and contract changes; engineering computations/formulas; core drilling equipment, pneumatic and electric jackhammers, and hand tools.
Skills
