About the role
The Residential Mortgage Finance Associate will join the Residential Mortgage Finance team within the Securitized Products Group (SPG), focusing on residential mortgage finance activities such as residential mortgage loan financing, mortgage servicing rights financing, and related credit products.
Responsibilities
- Analyze residential mortgage collateral, loan tapes, review collateral eligibility, concentration limits, track performance triggers and monitor portfolio performance trends
- Review underwriting guidelines of prospective clients to evaluate their various origination programs
- Support underwriting, structuring, approval, and ongoing management of residential mortgage financing arrangements
- Prepare internal credit memoranda, transaction summaries, client presentations, portfolio reviews, and approval materials
- Evaluate residential mortgage loan performance, including delinquencies, prepayments, defaults, repurchases, early payment defaults, and servicing-related metrics
- Coordinate with internal teams, and the various lines of defense including Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Treasury, Finance, and Audit
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including clients, legal counsel, document custodians, valuation providers, and third-party diligence firms
- Monitor residential mortgage market trends, agency and non-agency lending developments, interest rate trends, origination volumes, servicing valuations, and regulatory developments
- Provide analytical support for new business opportunities and existing client relationships
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in residential mortgage finance, mortgage warehouse lending, specialty finance, commercial banking, structured lending, mortgage banking, credit underwriting, or related financial services disciplines
- Familiarity with residential mortgage origination, servicing, collateral eligibility, agency guidelines, non-agency mortgage products, and mortgage industry risk factors
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong understanding of credit risk, liquidity risk, counterparty risk, collateral risk, and operational risk in residential mortgage finance
- Strong financial modeling, credit analysis, and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Excel and financial analysis tools
- Familiarity with mortgage finance systems, loan tapes, custodial reporting, collateral reports, and mortgage data fields
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions
