About the role

The classroom Choir Teacher will create a class environment that implements the district articulated curriculum for their content area that provides positive learning experiences for all students, including providing each student with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to lead self-sufficient, healthy, productive, socially responsible lives to the best of their individual potential. The teacher will establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Creates a positive learning environment that implements the district articulated curriculum for their content area.
  • Establishes positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.
  • Documents student progress, sets appropriate learning goals, designs lesson plans, plans activities and outcomes; addresses specific educational needs of all students.
  • Communicates feedback to student's parents and the administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
  • Uses assessment results to guide and implement differentiated instructional strategies.
  • Works collaboratively with staff, attends department meetings, and participates in extracurricular activities where appropriate.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities, including active participation in our Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with appropriate educational endorsement.
  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement per OSPI.
  • Commitment and ability to work with a full range of students.
  • Knowledge and implementation of district adopted curricula.
  • Knowledge of procedures/policies in the student referral process.

  • Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of current state assessments and graduation requirements.
  • Knowledge of procedures/policies in the student referral process.

  • Ability to effectively integrate technology resources into the curriculum.

  • Ability to serve as a role model and treat students as individuals in a professional manner.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
  • Collaborative protocols in working with specialized staff.

Benefits

Will be paid at 2026-27 rates. BARGAINING UNIT: OEA FLSA: Exempt Benefits Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Employees anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program. The district's healthcare benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB).
