About the role

NSA's Linguists, known as Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs), play a crucial role in the Intelligence Community by analyzing, transcribing, and translating foreign language materials. They contribute to the SIGINT mission, helping U.S. policymakers and military leaders understand foreign language contexts and cultural nuances.

Responsibilities

  • Offer insights to U.S. policymakers and military leaders through the analysis of foreign language materials
  • Research and understand other cultures and their operations within the broader geopolitical landscape
  • Develop and apply innovative solutions to complex analytic problems
  • Craft written and oral assessments that provide unique insights unavailable from other intelligence disciplines
  • Work independently and collaboratively with colleagues both within NSA and across the Intelligence Community

Requirements

  • Minimum language proficiency of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 2/2 in reading and listening in the target language
  • Relevant experience in language work, analysis, or related fields
  • Desired coursework and experience in target development, social network analysis, metadata analysis, research methodology, and quantitative/statistical analysis
  • Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant experience
    • Associate's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
    • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
    • Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience
    • Doctoral degree with no experience

    Benefits

    Comprehensive benefits package offered by NSA, including paid travel for testing and a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).

    Pay

    Salary range: $50,460 - $187,093 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance, Senior) based on education level and years of experience relevant to the position. Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.

    Schedule

    This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with a basic 8-hour/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).
