About the role

NSA's Linguists, known as Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs), play a crucial role in the Intelligence Community by analyzing, transcribing, and translating foreign language materials. They are integral to the SIGINT mission, offering insights into foreign cultures and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Offer U.S. policymakers and military leaders a window into the foreign language world by analyzing, transcribing, and translating key information.
  • Research and understand other cultures, their operations, and their place in the geopolitical landscape.
  • Apply new techniques and develop creative solutions to address complex analytic problems.
  • Craft written and oral assessments that provide unique insights unavailable from other intelligence disciplines.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, both within NSA and with other analysts in the Intelligence Community.

Requirements

  • Minimum language proficiency of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 2/2 in reading and listening in the target language.
  • Relevant experience in professional work in the language, military, teaching, or analysis.
  • Desired coursework and experience in target development, social network analysis, metadata analysis, research methodology, and quantitative/statistical analysis.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with no experience.
  • High school diploma or GED with 7 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 1 year of relevant experience, or Doctoral degree with no experience.
  • High school diploma or GED with 10 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or Doctoral degree with 2 years of relevant experience.

Skills

  • Intellectually curious and a desire for continuous learning.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to synthesize information to solve complex problems.
  • Able to provide timely and accurate customer service.

Benefits

  • Full-time position, Monday - Friday, with flexible hours between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Salary range: $50,460 - $187,093 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance, Senior).
  • Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.
  • Benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
  • Work schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8-hour days between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
