Chiller Technician

Job Duties / General Requirements

• Diagnose and repair all levels of HVAC equipment, including very large and sophisticated chiller plants.
• Capable of complete teardowns and rebuilds of chiller plants with at least two relevant certifications.
• Identify, diagnose, and repair unitary products ranging from 1-ton mini splits to 50-ton package units.
• Troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), control issues, and change compressors.
• Perform maintenance on boilers, including combustion analysis and troubleshooting water and air flow issues.
• Repair and verify the correct operation of boilers.
• Diagnose and repair compressor, motor, and starter issues with various types of starters (Wye Delta, AFD, solid state).
• Tear down and rebuild compressors, oil pumps, and starters as necessary.
• Perform leak searches on low-pressure chillers and Megha-Ohm compressor motors.
• Experience with Turbo Core and Centrifugal compressors is a plus.
• Troubleshoot water flow issues and control issues related to chiller operation.
• Troubleshoot signal and control issues related to control valves.
• Troubleshoot water flow issues and determine deficiencies in performance for heat exchangers.
• Tear down, clean, and reassemble heat exchangers with new gaskets.

Additional Requirements

• Over 5 years of field experience plus specialized training.
• Provide all information from each service call to the dispatcher before leaving the job site.
• Document work by accurately completing paperwork and maintaining files.
• Provide initial and follow-up training at customer sites.
• Expand business by discussing other services available.
• Must be able to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Computer skills are a must; working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
• Valid driver’s license, pre-hire drug screen required, and ability to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
