Children's Respite Consultant part time

RIDGEVIEW Behavioral Health Services is a not-for-profit community mental health center based in Oak Ridge, TN, offering an opening for a part-time Bachelor’s Level Children's Respite Consultant through the Respite Rocks! program. This hands-on role is ideal for a new graduate or early-career social worker/counselor.

About the Role

The Respite Consultant delivers a grant-funded planned respite program to families of children with serious emotional disturbance, Autism, or serious behavior disorders. Responsibilities include providing immediate respite, developing long-term respite strategies, and training caregivers in behavior management skills to support family stability and prevent out-of-home placements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned respite services to families of children with serious emotional disturbance, Autism, or serious behavior disorders.
• Provide immediate respite care for families in need.
• Assist in developing long-term respite strategies tailored to each family.
• Train caregivers in behavior management skills.
• Maintain positive working relationships with children, youth, families, and referral sources.

Requirements

• BS/BA in Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field.
• Valid driver’s license with “for hire” endorsement and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with children, youth, and/or families.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with seriously emotionally disturbed youth and their families.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with children, families, and referral sources.
