Children's Cooking Instructor

About the role

Cultivate COOLinary Curiosity in Kids® by helping us turn kids' meals into something exciting and educational. This is a fun, part-time job where you can lead cooking classes for children.

Responsibilities

• Teach full sessions ranging from 4-12 weeks
• Manage and engage a group of 8-14 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
• Create creative recipes and teach children about new ingredients and healthy foods from around the world
• Provide direction and encouragement to create a new recipe each class
• Lead hour-long healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for students
• Review weekly class curricula and prepare for instruction which includes shopping independently for fresh ingredients
• Teach basic kitchen skills including washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, nutrition, and more

Requirements

• Availability at least 2 days a week (Monday - Friday, between 2-5 pm)
• ServSafe Food Handler Certification (can obtain before teaching)
• Access to reliable transportation
• Ability to communicate with our team in a timely manner
• Punctual and reliable
• No professional cooking experience required
• Experience working with kids of varying ages is a plus

Qualifications

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required by districts and schools

Skills

• Love for food and passion for introducing kids to new ingredients and exploring new tastes in the kitchen
• Ability to manage and engage a group of 8-14 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
• Organizational skills to review weekly class curricula and prepare for instruction
• Basic kitchen skills including washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, nutrition, and more
• Knowledge of the history, geography, and language behind each recipe

Pay

$60 for a one-hour class + food reimbursement
