About the role
The Child Services Team Member cares for children in Noah’s Place Child Waiting Room in the courthouse under general supervision from the Children’s Operations Supervisor or designee.
Responsibilities
- Sign children in and out of the children waiting rooms and release children only to authorized adults following agency procedures.
- Plan, organize, and implement activities that stimulate children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth, including reading, arts and crafts, and songs.
- Maintain a nurturing environment for children from birth to 13 years of age.
- Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
- Provide responsive care, address children in distress, and communicate unsafe behaviors to the Program Supervisor.
- Maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times to ensure safety.
- Teach manners through leading by example and assist with toileting, including changing diapers and accompanying children to the restroom.
- Dress children when necessary, typically after diaper changes.
- Ensure proper and frequent handwashing for children (upon arrival, before/after snacks, after restroom use, etc.).
- Serve healthy and nutritious snacks on schedule and feed infants on demand following agency procedures.
- Respond to children's behaviors positively, redirect as needed, and maintain safety at all times.
- Assist with homework if requested by parent or child.
- Sanitize toys and play equipment, organize materials, and perform general housekeeping duties.
- Keep records on individual children, including observations and information about activities and meals served.
- Adhere to company-set ratios for child supervision at all times.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience providing care to children.
- 2 verifiable work references and 2 verifiable personal references.
- Proven track record of successful childcare.
- CPR and AED certified.
- Genuine compassionate nature.
- Reliable transportation or access to reliable transportation (transit, train, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful completion of drug screen and background check.
- High school diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 or more units in early childhood education.
