Responsibilities

  • Assist Leads, Teachers, and Director in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment, including sanitizing toys, organizing materials, and ensuring all areas are free of hazards.
  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, and other daily routines to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Prepare and distribute classroom supplies; assist with setting up and cleaning up learning centers and materials.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, and other basic care routines as needed.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate play and learning experiences that promote their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Follow the guidance of Leads, Teachers, and Director in managing classroom behavior and addressing any challenges that arise.
  • Facilitate small group activities and provide individual attention to children.
  • Read stories to children and engage them in age-appropriate activities.
  • Actively monitor children during playtime and transitions to ensure safety.
  • Observe and document children’s behavior, progress, and milestones, and communicate findings to Lead Teachers and parents as directed.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth classroom operations.
  • Support children's learning through hands-on experiences and exploration.
  • Support open and positive communication with parents, including providing updates on their child’s day and assisting with any questions or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily observations.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to plan and implement special events, field trips, and holiday celebrations.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by Lead Teachers or program administrators.
  • Enforce classroom rules and manage behavior issues with guidance from the lead teacher.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Ensure children's hygiene needs are met.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
  • Previous experience working with toddlers in a childcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of infant development and age-appropriate practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with toddlers.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check and comply with state licensing requirements.

Schedule

Wednesdays, 8-hour shift (close preschool in the afternoons). Opportunity for increased hours as needed to cover staff time off/sick time.
