About the role
Good Shepherd Day School, a trusted part of the Rocky Mount community since 1955, is seeking a full-time Lead Teacher for various age groups in their five-star rated early childhood program.
Responsibilities
- Rapid Program Audit – Within the first 30–60 days, review curriculum fidelity (The Creative Curriculum®), assessment tools, budget health, and staffing ratios; present findings to the Rector and Vestry.
- Staff Coaching & Morale – Provide weekly reflective-practice sessions, fill open positions, and ensure smooth scheduling and staff coverage.
- Family & Community Communications – Keep parents, church leadership, and community partners informed of interim goals and progress.
- Succession Preparation – Develop a six-month action plan and create a knowledge-transfer binder for the incoming permanent director.
Requirements
- North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential – Level III (required)
- Three or more years of center leadership experience, with demonstrated success guiding programs through transitions or accreditation processes
- Strong skills in rapid assessment, change management, and stakeholder communication
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred

- Compensation Package
- Base Pay: $50,000–$55,000 annualized, paid bi-weekly for the duration of the contract.
- Project Completion Bonus: Up to 5% of contract value for achieving audit and program stability milestones.
- Tuition Benefit: Free tuition for one child during the contract term (space permitting)
