About the role

Good Shepherd Day School, a trusted part of the Rocky Mount community since 1955, is seeking a full-time Lead Teacher for various age groups in their five-star rated early childhood program.

Responsibilities

• Rapid Program Audit – Within the first 30–60 days, review curriculum fidelity (The Creative Curriculum®), assessment tools, budget health, and staffing ratios; present findings to the Rector and Vestry.
• Staff Coaching & Morale – Provide weekly reflective-practice sessions, fill open positions, and ensure smooth scheduling and staff coverage.
• Family & Community Communications – Keep parents, church leadership, and community partners informed of interim goals and progress.
• Succession Preparation – Develop a six-month action plan and create a knowledge-transfer binder for the incoming permanent director.

Requirements

• North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential – Level III (required)
• Three or more years of center leadership experience, with demonstrated success guiding programs through transitions or accreditation processes
• Strong skills in rapid assessment, change management, and stakeholder communication
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred

• Compensation Package
• Base Pay: $50,000–$55,000 annualized, paid bi-weekly for the duration of the contract.
• Project Completion Bonus: Up to 5% of contract value for achieving audit and program stability milestones.
• Tuition Benefit: Free tuition for one child during the contract term (space permitting)
