Child Welfare Supervisor (Baton Rouge Region)

About the role

The Child Welfare Supervisor - Baton Rouge Region position primarily exercises direct supervision over a unit of first line Child Welfare Specialists providing services in the CPS Program in line with the agency mission and goals. The role requires specialized supervision, case assignment, assistance with risk assessments, locating placement resources, accompanying workers in the field, and providing case consultation.

Responsibilities

• Assigning cases to Child Welfare Specialists
• Assisting workers with ongoing risk assessments and determinations of child safety
• Locating and providing placement resources
• Accompanying workers in the field, conducting home visits, attending court appearances, and providing case consultation when necessary
• Responding to court orders, inquiries, and requests from judges, attorneys, and other court personnel
• Providing on-going training for staff
• Creating a positive work environment that promotes productivity in a safe, comfortable, clean, and well-organized workplace
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications include six years of experience in child welfare; OR six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR a bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR an advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
• Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
• Necessary special requirement: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, a current driver's license, and access to a personal vehicle.
• Necessary criminal background check.

Qualifications

• Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).

Skills

Strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with child welfare policies and procedures are also required.

Schedule

Typical work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and are dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
