Child Welfare Residential Case Aide (Full-Time, Temporary)

About the role

The Child Welfare Residential Case Aide will provide emergency shelter care and supervision for youth in the custody of Wake County Human Services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and structure including implementation of a behavior management system, modeling positive interactions and appropriate behavior
  • Facilitate appointments for health, mental health and other needs
  • Participate in team meetings to assess needs, progress and make recommendations
  • Work therapeutic, trauma-informed residential intervention methods for children/adolescents with various Mental Health/Substance Use diagnosis ranging in ages from 0-17 as they await placement
  • Maintain a daily log of progress notes and ensure that all notes are completed by end of shift
  • Assist with community links and resources
  • Maintain clear access for communication between the youth and their systems of Care individuals
  • Maintain shift coverage to assist in crisis intervention and in case of inclement weather

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of job-related experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth & development
  • One year experience as a nurse’s aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting
  • Two years of experience working with youth in an inpatient/residential setting
  • Specialized experience with a predominate diagnosis cluster of the patients served

  • Displays an understanding of the basic concepts of safe, supportive, nurturing & therapeutic human interactions
  • Effectively interacts with patients, peers, & families
  • Demonstrates ability to follow behavior programs
  • Active supervision of therapeutic & recreational activities
  • Demonstrates consistent ability to problem-solve & communicate clearly, both verbally & in writing
  • Emotional intelligence to manage difficult case situations

Temporary, full-time role with shifts available: 8:00am-4:00pm, 4:00pm-12:00am, 12:00am-8:00am (40 hours a week)
