Position Summary

Children’s child welfare program is seeking mission-driven professionals committed to strengthening families and supporting child safety and well-being. Drawing upon strength-based, trauma-informed practice and utilizing a family teaming model, Child Welfare Case Managers work in partnership with parents and their team to manage child safety while enhancing parents’ ability to keep their children safe. Our priority is family connectedness and our primary goals are keeping families intact and facilitating reunification. When children cannot return home safely, Child Welfare Case Managers pursue alternate forms of permanency, such as transfer of guardianship and adoption, with a focus on maintaining family relationships.

Job responsibilities

  • Client engagement
  • Safety assessment and planning
  • Case/permanency planning and service coordination
  • Career development and career advancement opportunities
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary family teams and meeting facilitation
  • Conduct in-home and community-based visits with children, families, and caregivers
  • Facilitate placement into out-of-home care settings and support caregivers in meeting the needs of children and youth in partnership with families
  • Document case progress
  • Represent child welfare perspective in court proceedings

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge acquired through a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or related degree that meets child-placing license requirements
  • One year of experience in the delivery of educational training, employment services, vocational counseling, social services or related field preferred
  • Case management experience with economically disadvantaged populations preferred
  • Experience working with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds strongly preferred
  • Requires a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, personal auto liability insurance coverage and the ability to be insured by the CHHS auto insurance carrier
  • Must use personal vehicle to transport children, complete in-house car seat transporter training within one month of hire and re-train biannually thereafter to maintain
