Job Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and evaluate child support cases for the appropriate establishment and/or enforcement actions.
- Create and update records of payment, legal pleadings, and correspondence.
- Update computer records, perform locate activities, and document case activity.
- Negotiate settlements and agreed orders.
- Mediate between parties and resolve issues relating to child support payments.
- Maintain and manage case logs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Child Support Specialist I: A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional experience for each year of the required education.
- Child Support Specialist II: A bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience in child support enforcement, accounting, legal, or social work; or a master’s degree or a juris doctorate degree; or an associate’s degree in Legal Assistance or a closely related program of paralegal education and two years of professional experience in child support enforcement, accounting, or social work; or an associate’s degree in Public Service – Legal Case Management and two years of professional experience in child support enforcement, accounting, or social work; or completion of an American Bar Association approved paralegal education program and two years of professional experience in child support enforcement, accounting, or social work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one additional year of qualifying experience for each year of the required bachelor’s degree.
Qualifications
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance.
