Child Safety Officer (part-time)

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's degree in education or a related field, or a high school diploma or GED and training and experience in public speaking, teaching or program planning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Ability to write and implement lesson plans.
• Excellent group management and organizational skills.
• Experience in working with elementary school age children.
• Good driving record required.

Duties

• Teach 32 different age appropriate Success Through Education and Proactive Policing (STEPP) lessons while providing a supervised and structured environment for Chesterfield County public elementary school students.
• Provide instruction to students through lecture style teaching, audio and visual aids, props and handout materials.
• Provide guidance and act as a positive role model while teaching respect and encouraging children to make sound decisions concerning their safety and well-being.
• Direct traffic daily in and out of school areas while focusing on the safety of pedestrians and bike riders.
