Child Life Teacher

About the role

The available position involves providing educational services for hospitalized patients in Kindergarten through 12th grade. This includes assisting patients in completing schoolwork, planning and implementing supplementary educational activities, coordinating homebound services, maintaining academic involvement with the patient’s home school, and communicating the patient’s special needs to the school.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients in completing schoolwork
• Plans and implements supplementary educational activities
• Captures assignments and communicates special needs to the patient’s home school
• Maintains academic involvement with the patient’s home school by acting as a liaison between the hospital and the school
• Provides appropriate patient chart notes regarding services rendered and information that could impact patient

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
• State of Michigan teaching certificate
• One to two years teaching experience in a school or other educational setting
• A special education endorsement is preferred but not required
