Child Life Specialist PRN

About the Role

Provides for the developmental needs of hospitalized children age 0-21 to include advocating for psychosocial, emotional, physical and cognitive needs. Decreases the anxiety and/or trauma with illness and hospitalization through interventions, which promote play, learning, mastery, self-expression, and peer interaction. Educates staff and the community concerning the developmental needs of hospitalized children, reactions of children to illness and hospitalization, and family-centered care. Advocates for policy and standards of care which support the special needs of children and families.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Child Life or Child Development or a related field and a Child Life internship program of 600+ hours under a Certified Child Life Specialist.
• Child Life Certification preferred or eligible to sit for Child Life Certification exam.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider obtained within 6 months of hire.
